Peru to position itself as international event host

Peru will position itself as the host of international events and meetings in the following years, the General Manager at the Hotel Association of Peru (SHP) Tibisay Monsalve affirmed.

"In 2014, we saw an important upturn […] compared to previous years. Although in 2013 we already had displayed a good performance, in 2014 Peru went from [organizing] 64 to 84 events within one year," she said.

In 2015, Peru will host the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Also, the Southern city Arequipa will host the 13th World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities and the 32nd Mining Convention.

In 2016, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit will take place in Peru, as well as the 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIV) and the Dakar Rally, among others.

In 2017, the World Combat Games will be held in Lima. Peru will also see the Summit of the Americas in 2018 and the Pan American Games in 2019.
