The Grand Gelinaz! Shuffle kicked off yesterday, taking Peru’s own chef, Virgilio Martinez of Central restaurant across seas to Denmark.
The event’s official homepage announces, “From Japan to Chile, from Brazil to Slovenia, France, Turkey, Sweden, Thailand, Australia, UK, Italy, Peru, Spain, Canada, Belgium and Denmark and all throughout United States, 37 of the best chefs of the planet will be swapping lives, identities… and restaurants!”
The Twitter page of the world-renowned chef shared the image of sheep as seen in the photo above to give a clue to his assignment: Denmark.
The chef to replace Virgilio Martinez has yet to be announced, according to El Comercio. However, the Peruvian chef will be cooking at the Henne Kirkeby Kro in Denmark.
The event is described as one “pushing the boundaries, performing food and taking risk as a starting point,” “never willing to repeat itself, always exploring the unknown,” “zooming on the beauty of nature, its elegant chaos and unending recreation,” among others.
