Peru’s military industry is carrying out its most ambitious project: the construction of a new sail training vessel for the Peruvian Navy.
Peru’s President Ollanta Humala participated in the ceremony marking the official presentation of the Type 90B multiple rocket launcher system aimed at equipping and training purposes for the benefit of the Peruvian Army’s Artillery compound.
These types of 122mm 40-tube China-made weapons are mounted on a special truck. Likewise, the missiles can meet targets located at a range between 20 and 40 kilometers, it was announced.
The second of four Italian C-27J Spartan aircrafts formally joined Peruvian Air Force (FAP for its Spanish acronym) last night in a ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano and Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi.
According to the Cabinet’s chief, the incorporation of these brand new state-of-the-art planes kicks of the process of modernization in the Armed Forces, and results not only in the improvement of FAP’s logistical capacity, but in the service provided to Peruvians.
He also referred that the purchase opens medium and short term cooperation opportunities with Italy for the installation of maintenance workshops of these aircrafts at the service of Peru and other Latin American countries.
On the other hand, Defense Minister informed the third and fourth C-27J Spartan plane will be delivered in early and late 2016, respectively.
Capable to carry up to 60 soldiers, the aircraft can be used for different roles including support in case of natural disasters, transport of up to 36 injured people resting on pallets, passenger and cargo transport, among others.
